Winter guard is an indoor colour guard sport and performance art derived from military ceremonies.
Modern winter guard is a competitive, performance-based activity that incorporates choreographed staging, dance, and manipulation of equipment such as flags, prop rifles, and sabres (also known as "spinning").
Winter guard performances and competitions are held indoors typically ranging from 3 to 7 minutes depending on the guard level. Performances and competitions are hosted primarily in the USA with a few performances in Canada, including a dress rehearsal and a home show.

Unlike traditional colour guard, as a component of Drum Corps, winterguard performances and contests are held indoors, usually in a gymnasium, or an indoor arena. Performances typically last 3-7 minutes (2), and are generally accompanied by recorded soundtracks, rather than live music.
Ventures Winter Guard is a Winter Guard organization based in Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, that partakes in the wider Winter Colour Guard Community. We are a part of the Northeast Colourguard Circuit, and compete our program primarily in New York State.

As a proud non-profit youth organization, Ventures Winter Guard accepts members from ages 8–21.

do I have to compete if I join ventures winter guard?
While our recruitment/summer sessions are open to youth with no commitment, our show season is competitive and requires registration and commitment to the practice and show schedule spanning from September to April.
